During last week I have created another 4 pages in my sketchbook, showing different types of handles and different art movements. For my primary research I took some images of the door handles that my family have, which are quite standard and not very interesting. For the image that I drew I used graphite to try and give it a rustic look, which In my opinion I think worked really well.

For my secondary research I looked for different types of handles on Pinterest and also made them into a Pinterest board. 

I researched handles that were quite different and unique, so that I had a different variety. I drew this image using bronze and gold gel pens to create a shiny effect. I really like this as its a lot more interesting than just drawing a simple handle.

I then researched different art movements and decided to research more on Art Nouveau and Art Deco. I prefer Art Nouveau as it fits more into our theme "let the outside in" as a lot of the doors include flowers. 

Art Nouveau was inspired by natural forms and structures, not only in flowers and plants, but also in curved lines 

I found all these images on Pinterest, included the images for art Deco. 

Even though I prefer Art Nouveau, I also really like Art Deco, as it looks really modern. It is an influential visual arts design style that first appeared in France just before ww1. The style is often characterised by rich colours and geometric shapes.

I have also created 7 initial designs for my final door designs. All that include nature and geometric shapes which were influenced my Art Nouveau and Art Deco.

From this page I prefer the design on the green door, but the colour of the lead door. Because of this for one of my final designs I will use the tree/branches pattern, but the colour lead.

From this page I prefer the blue door as it looks more inspired by art Nouveau, and to make it fit with the theme, It is going to contain a circular pereline glass panel.

 each design shows the colour going to be used from the company,  and what materials it will be made out of, such as wood, steel etc.
