FMP- RESEARCH SHEET

Creating my research sheet,  I used images that I thought would link well with colour. I gathered these images on Pinterest as I found them really eyecatching. I used mostly water colour to create these drawings, which I really like, however I also used black ink to create the drawings of trees and the figure of the wolf. I wish that I had used black paint to create these as the ink turned out really shiny and you can see a lot of brush marks throughout the drawings, which I feel distracts you from the paintings. I do really like the effect that the water colour has created and I am really happy with how it has turned out.

FMP- DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT SHEETS

 First design sheet-
As I began to create my design sheets for my final piece, I based my first design sheet on the photographs that I had taken in the photoshoot I created. I chose some images that showed movement in the photographs, and some images that just show the front view or side view of my model, so that I had a variety of different ideas to choose from when I developed them.

 First development sheet -
I then based my development sheet on the images from my photoshoot, which I edited on photoshop, to create bright, colourful and eyecatching ideas. I did this by altering the hue and saturation on the images and by adding different filters such as, oil paint or watercolour. Some of these work better that others, as some aren't as clear. All together, I edited 18 of the photoshoot images I had taken, which overall I think work really well. I think it would have looked better if I changed the colours round a little more as a lot of the colours are quite similar on all of the images.

Second Design sheet-
Once editing all of my images on photoshoot, I began recreating them in a media I thought would capture the designs well. I first decided to recreate a side view Image, as this was a little brighter in colour than some of the others. To create this I used coloured drawing inks, as they are quite vibrant in colour. I applied a lot of ink where the colour on the image was fuller, then where the colour wasn't very full, I let the ink dry on my brush so that it came of quite patchy in places, which I really like. I also did this on the hair so that it looked like there was light hitting it. I really liked the effect this media created so I wanted to use this again on another design sheet.

Third design sheet-
Using the same media as my last design sheet, I recreated another one of my photoshoot images. This time, using a front view image instead of a side view. I chose to recreate this image as the colours were a lot darker and fuller than the last image I had created, which I thought would make them contrast well. Once again, I used a lot of ink in places where the colours were fuller and dry ink where the colours weren't as full, as I like how it turned out on the last design sheet. I also added a black figure behind the drawing to try and create a shadow like effect. I really like how these design sheets turned out, however I couldn't decide which I liked best to create and change for my final design, so instead of focusing on one design I decided to combine the 2 together and have both a front and side view drawing as part of my final design.

Second development sheet-
As I decided I was going to use both design sheets as part of my final piece, I wanted to try and create them using a different media to see if it would work any better or if it wouldn't work as good. I chose to use oil paint as I liked previous effects it had on work I had created within my sketchbook, which was based on the artist Leonid Afremov. Creating the design in oil paint, I used quite a lot of oil so that it would lay flatter on the page. I also felt that the colours contrasted too much together on the designs on the previous design sheets, so I decided to make the colours lighter, which I felt would make them look better at the side of each other. I used white to add highlights to the drawings and used black to add more definition to different parts of the drawings, such as the eyes. I really liked both outcomes with the oil paints and the drawing inks, and because of this I am still debating which media to use for my final piece.

FMP -ARTIST SHEETS

This was the artist research sheet I created, based around an artist called Emily Louise Heard. She is a UK based artist who creates colourful and emotive works of art. Her work has been influenced by different artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent Van Goph and Leonid Afremov. I absoloutely love the vivid and and radiant colours that she uses in her work to make it look/ feel so alive. This piece of work was originally created using oil paints and is known as ' Tropical Balloon'. I wanted to try and create the same effect as the original piece of work, therefore I also used oil paints, but on paper; not on canvas. I am so happy with this piece of work and how well the media worked. I wouldn't change anything about this.

My next artist research sheet that I created was by an artist known as Patrice Murciano. He grew up in the south of France who was first inspired by comics and began to reproduce their characters. He then went onto using his mothers makeup to create portraits and female nudes. He said in an interview - "I am entirely self-taught in art (painting, sculpture, photography, film). I learned all this through passion over time. I continue to learn every day; I try new techniques, new portraits or nudes. I have long list of painted celebrities. Today I would rather paint portraits: faces that inspire me, children, adults, the elderly; I am first and foremost portraitist."  Murciano uses inks, watercolor and acrylic paint. He begins by projecting an image onto a canvas with a projector, then draws with a pencil. These pieces were originally created using coloured inks, which I have also used to recreate them so that it creates the same effect. I absoloutely love this sheet as it is so colourful and eyecatching.
